Eternal fast

The nature on which Allah Almighty has created man guides him in many ways. According to this nature, what a man does is called the law of nature. Man eats, drinks, marries, has children, builds a house and does many other things under this nature. All these matters are so natural that they become permissible without the telling by God and become the command of God without Him asking to do so (Al-Baqarah 2:222).

When the month of Ramadan comes, Allah Almighty tests His servants in a strange way. They make things unlawful under this natural law, such as food, drink and marital relations, for a certain period of time. Servants listen to the Lord’s command and refrain from their natural needs while expressing obedience to Him. Allah Almighty is so pleased with this that according to the hadiths, He makes a special door for them in Paradise. He likes the smell of their mouth more than the fragrance. He promises to reward them Himself for fasting and give them the good news of a special happiness when they meet with Him.

There are few people in this world who are forever deprived of many of the blessings under God’s law of affliction that law of nature has permitted. Many sisters do not get married. Many people are disabled. Many people are sick for life. Many people live their lifetime in poverty. Some do not have children. All such people are fasting forever. When they will be rewarded for their patience, every fasting person will be amazed. On that day, every scale will be incapable of measuring their reward.
