God is Alive

If a believer is alive in the true sense, and maintains a living relationship with his Lord, he experiences such connection to the Almighty that, in every moment of his life, he experiences the grace and closeness of his Lord. Recently, a friend of mine shared a similar experience with me.

One day he had to finish some important office work at home until late at night so that it could be presented in a meeting the next morning. This work required the internet, some computer software and collaboration with some other people. The work was tough and it was late at night, but he kept at the tasks with grit. One by one he overcame the obstacles until one last problem proved unsolvable, despite hours of effort, and he lost heart.

Two-thirds of the night had passed. He was used to praying supererogatory prayers (Nawafil) before sleeping. Due to exhaustion, he started praying, but halfheartedly. As soon as he went into prostration, his back hurt badly. This was the result of working for hours while sitting upright. In that moment, he realized his humility as a mere human being who does not even hold the power to bend in prostration at his own will. This feeling tormented them. He prayed intently to the Lord that O Almighty! I can do nothing, but you can do everything. Solve my problem! He finished the prayer and the solution of the problem suddenly popped into his mind, and the problem that he was unable to solve for hours, got solved almost instantly.

God is alive. But, to feel this, the person must be alive himself. A person who is alive with faith can experience God’s presence vividly at every juncture of his life.
