Veiling one’s eyes from Car

A few days ago I wrote an article titled “Men’s Gaze”. In this article, the importance of the command for men to keep their gaze low was explained. A gentleman read this article and completely agreed with it. Then he told a very interesting thing about himself that for a long time in his life he has been keeping his sights veiled from shiny new model cars.

This is a reference to the time when new model vehicles were seen everywhere on the roads due to bank financing. He needed a car for his family, but did not have enough resources to buy a new model car. But when he would see new cars driving around, he would feel the desire to have one. He found a solution to this problem, i.e. veiling from cars, not idiomatically but really. Wherever he would come across a new car, he would intentionally turn away his gaze. Earlier, he would see these cars and feel desire for them, but this attitude reduced it.

The fact is that the believer lives for the hereafter. If he invests all his efforts for the world and its indulgences, he will not be able to invest efforts for the hereafter. In this pursuit, most people even take the path of sin and forbidden (Haram). Even if they don’t, there are so many desires that after fulfilling each desire, a new desire arises. As a result, he keeps running after desires all his life. All his money and time will be spent in desiring & pursuing worldly objects. The way to avoid these desires is that the believer practices veiling of the gaze. Be it from a car or from a big house. This attitude is the right way to attain the endless blessings of Paradise.
