When the Lord is pleased, all is well – Shumaila Usman

I saw baba Haider after a long time. The sands of passing time had hunched his shoulders, but he was still looking for work. When asked about his condition, he gave the usual answer, which was now his pet phrase, “When the Lord is pleased, all is well”. As always, his face was calm, but when asked why he was looking for work at nearly the age of seventy, I found out that even at this age, instead of ending, his responsibilities had grown. One young son fell victim to the violence in the city, and the second son fell into drug addiction, and now the responsibility of both their wives and children was on his aging shoulders. Instead of charity, he wanted to work and bring up the children with halal earning and was content with Allah’s will.

We can witness many such people around us, who have no assurance of even the day’s wage, or whether they will feed their children tonight or not, but the yearning to please the Lord is always alive in their hearts. Present in every era, this class of society is surrounded by worldly problems, scaling its share of the mountain of crises, in this very world, without complaining to Allah. These are the people who first accept the Prophets and believe in Allah. Holding average intelligence, limited resources, and limited vision, these are probably the ones close to Allah, who will be adorned in elegant attires, in the shade of Allah’s mercy, far from pain and suffering, on the day of judgment
